Paddocks and Shelter

Goats require shelter from the elements. The need some where to get out of the sun to cool down, or out of the wind to be able to warm up. Goats HATE rain and need protection from this as well.

Your paddocks will need enough shelters so that all goats can get out of the weather. One big shelter does not always work as goats lower in the pecking order may be left out in the weather and not allowed to share the shelter. Depending on the amount of goats you have will depend on how many shelters your will need. One big shed can work as long as there is plenty of space for all the goats to stand and move around without being bullied. A water tank cut in half would make 2 shelters which may be plenty for your goats. 3 sided shelter are needed so they don't have wind blowing through the shelters.

Baby goats will be more than happy with a dog kennel. A decent sized one is best so a few babies can fit at a time then they can use each other for warmth as well in the colder months.

Goats paddock are best done in mesh that are small enough to stop baby goats getting out as well as tall enough to stop jumpers. Fencing keeps the goats in and predators out!
